As of 9/2/2023 The crew spent 37 days in Region-4 (Idaho and Utah). Early on in the season IAs were few and far in between with having a wet winter/spring causing a slow start to the season. However we were allocated plenty of training flight hours that allowed us to train live flying helicopter drills, this was great experience for our trainees new to aviation. While on the Hayden Fire, ID we staffed multiple Helispots and MRBs, we also modded up with Challis Helitack for a line assignment and did various internal & external cargo, approved Helispots, worked as ARBOs, and managed a type 1 Helicopter. On the Thompson Ridge, Fire UT we shuttled crews, sling cargo, staffed Helispots, working as ABROs, and managed Thompson Helibase. As we sit right now, the crew is back on base Quincy, available for IA, we still have multiple crewmember out on a single resource assignment staffing a light up on the Six Rivers NF. In short, it has been a slower paced season compared to years past but even with the slower pace we were able to qualify multiple HECM and get plenty of experience, training and Task-Book trainee opportunities.
